Steele The Spotlight, Violet Voss, Jim Steele, Interview

Steele The Spotlight : Violet Voss

Twitter (now called X) is my home online. It’s where I do business. It’s where I meet new people. It’s where I reconnect with those I haven’t seen in person for a while. It’s where I hang out.

A couple weeks ago Violet Voss DM’d, asking if I was going to be at FetishCon. I’ve known Violet for a little while, so it wasn’t a big deal for her to message.

I said “No, but next year I’ll maybe show up at some point, whether it’s AVNs, or a convention.” She came back with “Darn it, I was hoping to meet with you!”

… I reverted into FanBoi mode for a few minutes after that and so would you.

Most of us guys, at our core, are little more than 14-year-old boys. We’re all idiots, waiting for the cheerleader to ask us out to Prom. I’m the consummate professional, but occasionally, revert to that goofy kid, wondering if people will notice me, or if I’ll ever get to say or do anything worthwhile.

I thought about it for a minute, got my game face on, then messaged back. Turns out, she was interested in doing some promo work, as well as getting a few profiles and photo shoots done.

Fair enough. That’s what I’m here for. It’s written into my job description.

I was super excited to talk with her and get some things in motion. We exchanged a few DMs, then emails, and finally phone numbers.

Violet ended up texting and then calling. Here’s what we talked about.

The Jim Steele Interview with Ellie Murphy

Whenever I consider doing an interview, there are a couple things that I look for. For starters, does the person in question have the drive to continue reaching for the stars; and secondly, does that person have an interesting story.

Ellie Murphy is all the above, plus a little more. She’s also well educated, down to earth, funny, incredibly sexy, and yeah … she’s got the drive that will eventually take her to the top of our industry. Along the way, her story will end up a hundred times more interesting than it already is.

Ellie is the girl next door– if you happen to live next to a gorgeous red head that is ready, willing, and able to do almost anything.

With that said, I have known of Ellie Murphy for a little over a year. Over the course of that time, myself and others have witnessed her transition from camming to doing live scenes, a feat that proves to be difficult for most, if not all who attempt it. The adult industry, from the outside looking in, appears to be wide open– one big, happy family. However, when viewed from within, it is full of cliques, categories, and definitions. This is not an indictment of our beloved group, merely an observation of the way the business operates.

On a rainy Monday evening in December, over the span of a couple hours, Ellie and I chatted on a Zoom call. What I found was a girl who has overcome tremendous adversity in her past and wants to break through those dividing walls, continuing to be a successful and sought-after actress. She eventually wants to combine roles, moving behind the camera and perfecting her vision of what adult entertainment should be.

That’s interesting stuff.

What follows is a transcript of our conversation. Give it a read. Then, give Ellie a follow, check out her fan sites, and if you’re so inclined, contact her agent to get her on your set.

Jim Steele Interview with Pamela Bliss (Artist of John Mellencamp Mural)

Jim Steele (JS) – Today, I’m fortunate enough to have a conversation with Pamela Bliss. I went out on a limb, and cold called her for an interview while she was busy working on her latest mural of John Mellencamp in downtown Seymour, Indiana, which has quickly become the talk of the town. I’d use “The Small Town”, but I’m trying oh so hard to keep this on an even keel, and the fact of the matter is that Pamela has been out and about for many years. She’s arguably one of the most accomplished artists I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, and I appreciate her time and her talent. Through her work, she has helped to make this town, State, country, and even places beyond our shores a brighter place to live. Thanks for taking some time Pamela.

The faded red rowboat- It’s there, ready for an incredible journey. I suppose I am too. Jim-Steele-thejimsteele-jimsteele

The Faded Red Rowboat

I have this new painting hanging on the wall of my office. It’s a faded red rowboat, tied off, floating next to the shore. I’m not quite sure what it was about the picture that caught my eye, but something did. A couple months ago, when I was out shopping, looking to get stuff for my new place. I saw it. I liked it. I bought it.

Once I got it home, after everything else had found its place, the little red boat still hadn’t. It was sitting over on the floor, leaning up next to a wall of bookcases. That was when I noticed the significance of the painting. It was as if the little boat on the lake was just as abandoned and adrift in the picture as it now was in my office… in my life. What did an empty rowboat have to do with me?

Razor Blades, Sideburns, People Who Don’t Call Back

If you own one of those old fashioned, double sided safety razors, you’ll have an excuse for at least some of the paraphernalia laying around when the cops bust the door down

These things run on regular razor blades, which are always handy to have around. I’m not saying that IF you have a razor blade and a mirror then your dicing up dope. What I am saying is that IF you’re dicing up dope, make sure you’ve got a shaving kit in the bathroom, keep it all in there. No cop in his right mind is gonna root through a shaving mug, with that disgusting horse hair brush and crusty soap, looking around for illicit substances. You want to try and blend in a little, and if you can’t do that, then try the old adage of hiding stuff in plain sight.

Did I mention that razor blades have many different, perfectly legal uses? Yeah, I’m sure there are plenty.

Wedding, Jim Steele

No Internet Service

Sitting in my office at my desk, I just overheard Alexa ask my wife, who was walking past her in the living room, if she wanted to update an order in the Amazon shopping cart for some kind of vitamins for our dogs. Kim yelled “No” on her way out the door to take Lucy outside. Across the street, the neighbors with the pool have classic rock playing, and I’m sure he’s got a cooler of beers out there on the patio. If I still drank or went swimming, I’d probably be over there right now. Next door, our old house is for sale. It’s a long story, but yeah, we used to live next door. Sold it. Moved seventy-five feet to the west, and now our old house is for sale. It’s on Facebook marketplace. It’s a busy world, even if you barely leave the house.

Meanwhile, I’m finally settling into a rhythm of typing at my keyboard.

I don’t type while online. For me, it’s distracting. Plus, there’s a part of me firmly convinced if I put a thousand or so words down, with the cloud looming overhead, that my precious data will be pilfered by online plagiarists. Right, wrong, or indifferent; if I’m on the word processor, the machine itself is offline.

Everything previous happened in the last fifteen minutes and comes on the heels of a busier than usual week. I got a new truck, finished one project at work and then started another. I rushed around like normal. I also performed a wedding ceremony– for my son and his bride.

The Best Valentine

Why should Valentine’s Day only last for one day in February?

Jon Sage, Kimberly Sage, Jim Steele, Love Letter, Valentine“Valentine, St., a saint of the Roman calendar, said to have been martyred in 306 A.D. The custom of choosing valentines on his day (14th Feb.) has been accidentally associated with his name. On the eve of St. Valentine’s day, young people of both sexes used to meet, and each of them drew one by lot from a number of names of the opposite sex, which were put into a common receptacle. Each gentleman thus got a lady for his valentine, and became the valentine of the lady. The gentlemen remained bound to the service of their valentines for a year. A similar custom prevailed in the Roman Lupercalia, to which the modern custom has, with probability, been traced. The day is now celebrated by sending anonymously through the post sentimental or ludicrous missives specifically prepared for the purpose. But this practice is also on the decline.”

The Wrong Turn

I ran through a stop sign today. Went right through it without ever looking. That’s bad, Į know. That’s a really bad thing. I wish I had it to do over again, maybe I’d… No, I’m sure I would stop if I had it all to do over again. But, like everything else in life, there are no do-overs. You do it once, and it’s done. Whatever that may be.

Keli Richards~ Writing Book With Jim Steele

I’m proud to be working with Keli Richards- putting her story into a memoir. Keli has done her best to drop her name and mine in the same sentence… ending with “Book”… since late last year. We’ve been working hard, going the extra mile to get it right, and have now reached a point where the manuscript is nearly ready for the editor.

Many remember her from her early days in the Adult Industry of the 1980s. Keli was only in Porn Valley for a couple years… and was kinda like one of those shooting stars. They appear brightly, and then fade from sight. All of a sudden, you’re left with nothing! The question I hear most often from fans and those within the Industry most is- what happened to Keli? Where’d she go? The answer is… wait and see. It’ll blow your mind! But let me tell you- we’ve got that plus a lot more. Stay tuned as this gets kicked into high gear, and starts to really take shape. Follow Keli on FaceBook, and Twitter. ***Bonus*** Website at KeliRichards.com! ~Jim Steele

***UPDATE***

As many of you may know, Keli is fighting Cancer. She is in the early stages, and we are optimistic that she will beat this. Still, please consider visiting her GoFundMe to help with expenses. Like many other performers, Keli did not have health insurance, and is doing her best to pay for everything as she goes. Thank you in advance.

JS – I suppose the first thought I have is to start at the beginning and ask- how long have you painted; and what type of art, or discipline, did you first begin to pursue?

Pamela Bliss (Pamela) – I’ve been painting for about 30 years. I’ve always drawn or painted in realism. I typically paint highly detailed and very literal. However, I will be attempting some other forms this winter when my schedule slows down.

JS – When did you kind of settle in on murals, and at what point did you reach what we all would term as a “professional status”?

Pamela – I painted some cartoon type of murals early on for some schools. But 23 years ago, I was approached about painting a mural of a large-scale jazz band in eastern Indiana. I was asked to do another and then another so it snowballed into full-time. So initially I was a part-time professional painter and now I am full-time.
